Crusaders of Greenmist is the Iksar Shadow Knight order — the dark-armored military arm of Cabilis, sworn to Cazic-Thule and tasked with reclaiming Kunark for the Iksar empire. The Crusaders patrol the Field of Bone borders, run training out of the Cabilis temple precinct, and serve as the canonical home faction for Iksar Shadow Knights raised inside the city.

The order's enemies are written into the geography of Kunark itself: every Sarnak fortress, every escaped slave revolt, and every Outpost humanoid that the empire considers a contaminant on Iksar soil. The Greenmist itself — the symbolic mist of Cazic-Thule's killing breath — is what the Crusaders carry, ritually and politically, into the field.

Lore

The Crusaders of Greenmist arose during the Iksar reclamation wars after the empire was driven from Sebilis and Chardok. Where the Legion of Cabilis carries the warrior tradition, the Crusaders carry the Cazic-Thule tradition fused to military discipline — a knightly order whose sacrament is the killing of the empire's enemies and whose patron is the god of fear.

The order's name comes from the literal greenmist of Cazic's breath, ritually invoked at induction. Within Cabilis the Crusaders share the temple district with the broader Iksar priesthood and operate the city's external strike force; outside Cabilis, Crusader patrols sweep the Field of Bone, the Warsliks Wood approaches, and the Swamp of No Hope routes that connect to the Sarnak frontier.

The Crusaders' Shadow Knight epic 1.0 (Innoruuk's Curse) is gated by Greenmist standing for canonical Iksar SKs because several quest steps require Cabilis access without aggro. The order's broader story arc is the standing fight against the Sarnak Empire that was the original Iksar slave class — which is why every Sarnak kill on Kunark gives Crusaders gain.

Why grind it

For a Shadow Knight character, Crusaders standing is the cleanest path into Cabilis-based SK content: faction-gated trainers, faction-gated quest contacts, and unaggro'd movement through the temple precinct. Several steps of the SK epic chain assume Cabilis access; without Greenmist standing, those steps require kiting NPCs through guards, which scales poorly past mid-game.

Crusaders is also the home faction for any character who wants to use Cabilis as a hub on Kunark — bind, bank, evil-merchant access, and the Field of Bone gating that flows out of it. For non-Iksar characters specifically, a positive Crusaders standing is the rare stable foothold inside Cabilis when no other faction in the city defaults friendly.

The Last Camp any-race-class adjustments

Under The Last Camp's any-race-any-class doctrine an Iksar Crusader can be a Wizard, a Druid, or a Beastlord — not just the canonical Shadow Knight or Warrior. Greenmist standing checks faction, not class, so the same standing that gates SK trainers also gates the city's broader content for any class running it. A non-Iksar character can grind Crusaders just as effectively, and the Greenmist questlines are reachable for anyone willing to put in the Sarnak kill loop on Lake of Ill Omen.
