Bard AA Priorities
Bard AA spend at The Last Camp PoP cap — song potency, twist speed, or mana-cohort utility.
Bard AA priorities at The Last Camp PoP cap (level 65). AAs are the primary specialization path beyond the level cap — there is no expansion content past PoP, so AA xp is the long-term progression.
For Bards, AAs decide how much utility you concentrate per group: faster twists, larger mana-regen pulses, or stronger AoE crowd-control. Bard AA returns are subtle next to a Cleric's or Wizard's, but they compound — a fully AA'd Bard makes every other group member meaningfully stronger every minute.
At a glance
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Total AA pool (PoP era) | ~240-280 across all categories |
| Priority categories | Class instrument > General melee/mitigation > Archetype |
| Hard prerequisites | Instrument Mastery before song-modifier scaling |
| Soft prerequisites | Mass Group Buff before raid-buff economy |
Build priorities (in order)
Tier 1 — Foundation (first 30-50 AAs)
- Instrument Mastery — instrument-modifier passive, scales every song
- Run 3 — universal; Bards run songs that compound this
- Combat Agility 1-3 — avoidance, Bards eat mez/AoE damage
- Mnemonic Retention 1 — extra song slot
- Innate Charisma — soft cap, lull/charm reliability
Tier 2 — Core spec (50-150 AAs)
- Spell Casting Mastery — lower mana cost on out-of-twist songs
- Mass Group Buff — group-song economy at raid prep
- Quickening / Quick Songs — faster song refresh
- Sionachie's Crescendo — Bard burst song AA (when on the era-correct tree tier)
- Combat Stability 1-3 — mitigation for swarm pulls
Tier 3 — Endgame polish (150+ AAs)
- Mnemonic Retention 2-3 — full twist suite
- Combat Fury — melee crit on swarm cycle
- Spell Casting Reinforcement — song crit
- Innate Stamina — soft cap
General AAs to prioritize
- Run 3 (always)
- Mnemonic Retention 2-3 (twist suite)
- Spell Casting Mastery 1-3 (out-of-twist mana)
- Combat Stability / Agility 1-3 (swarm survival)
- Innate Charisma
Archetype AAs (shared with related classes)
- Combat Stability / Agility — every melee
- Combat Fury — melee crit chance
- Mass Group Buff — Cle, Dru, Shm, Enc, Brd
- Spell Casting Mastery / Reinforcement — caster archetype
- Weapon Affinity — proc rate (matters for swarm cycle)
Class-defining AAs
- Instrument Mastery — Bard-only instrument-modifier passive
- Quick Songs / Quickening — Bard-only song speed
- Sionachie's Crescendo — Bard-only group burst song AA
- Jam Session — Bard-only twist-speed enhancement
- Mass Group Buff scales Bard buff songs uniquely well — high priority
Common pitfalls
- Skipping Instrument Mastery to chase melee AAs — every Bard song scales off this. First spend.
- Ignoring Mass Group Buff — Bard songs hit groups; MGB compounds the entire raid buff cycle.
- Buying Combat Fury before mitigation — swarm Bards die to cleave damage; mitigation first.
- Forgetting Spell Casting Mastery — out-of-twist nukes/pulses cost real mana without it.
- Putting AA into pet/charm — Bards don't have a pet line; ignore those general-archetype options.
The Last Camp any-race-class note
Bard AA priority does not change with race. Half-Elf Bard (canonical) has the strongest base CHA — Innate Charisma is less urgent. Wood Elf Bard is canonical too, with similar profile. Non-canonical races (Iksar, Troll, Ogre Bard via any-race-class) have lower base CHA — Innate Charisma earlier improves lull/charm reliability. Iksar Bard gains Innate Regen for between-pull recovery.
