Orb of Mastery is the Magician Epic 1.0 reward — a one-handed orb that crowns the Magician's identity as the EQ class that summons elementals. The reward is named for what it implies about the Magician's role: full mastery over the four elements, and the right to call on them in their highest planar form.

In hand, the orb gives the Magician a stable Primary slot for the rest of the era and a clicky utility nuke to round out the rotation when the elemental is busy.

The double-twenty fire and cold resists are unusual for a one-hander in the era and reflect the Magician's planar work in Sol Ro and the elemental zones during the chain.

Effect

  • Click — Manifest Elements. A direct elemental nuke usable from the orb. It gives the Magician a way to deliver a burst of damage outside the normal mana economy, useful as a finisher or as filler while a pet is mid-engagement.

The class's signature, however, is the elemental pet itself. The orb is the visible token of the Magician's relationship with the planes — completing the chain unlocks the highest tier of pet summoning at era cap, and the orb is the artifact that proves the contract.

How to obtain

The Magician Epic 1.0 quest, Orb of Mastery, sends a Magician through the four elemental planes plus a final ritual fight in the Plane of Sky. Each plane delivers one of four elemental tokens, and the Magician must defeat or negotiate with planar elementals to receive them. The chain ends with a combine performed inside the Plane of Sky.

Why it matters

The Magician epic is the moment the class becomes a true planar summoner. Before the orb, a Magician's pet is competitive but not best-in-slot; after the orb, the pet upgrade attached to the chain places the Magician as the highest sustained-DPS pet class on the server. The 100 mana and 20 INT keep the Magician topping the pet up between fights and chaining bolts and direct damage spells in parallel.

Outside of damage, the chain also marks an identity shift. A Magician with the orb in hand has spoken the names of all four elemental masters and survived; the class is no longer just an arcane caster who summons something useful, but a recognised servant of the planes.

The Last Camp any-race-class note

Class-locked at the item level — only Magicians equip it. The Last Camp's open class system means a Magician character may be any race, including races that classic EQ never permitted as Magicians. The chain is the same in every case; the orb is class-driven, not race-driven.
