Magician Epic 1.0 — Orb of Mastery

The 26-step elemental chain that grants the Magician the Spell — Summon Orb scroll, which conjures Orb of Mastery on cast.

The Magician Epic 1.0 ends in a spell rather than a direct item turn-in. The chain starts with Rykas in Lake Rathe (the classic Lake Rathetear zone) and runs through Antonica, Faydwer, Kunark, Plane of Hate, and Plane of Sky before culminating on the air island.

The chain layers in three sub-chains — Words of Magi'kot (three torn pages), Words of Mastery (four elemental pages out of Najena and Cazic Thule), and Power of the Elements (four planar reagents) — that all feed Rykas before the four named-element hunts begin. The named-element hunts are the chain's defining beats: Phinigel Autropos in Kedge Keep for Water, Magi P'Tasa in Plane of Hate for Earth, and Quillmane in South Karana for Wind.

Reward

The Orb itself is summoned from the Spell: Summon Orb scroll handed in by the Master of Elements. The scroll must be scribed and cast to produce the weapon — the chain does not hand you the orb directly.

Chain walkthrough

The chain has six parts. Steps 1-5 produce Words of Magi'kot. Step 6 produces Power of the Elements. Steps 7-11 produce Words of Mastery. Step 12 combines all three at Rykas into Power of the Orb. Steps 13-25 produce the four Elements. Step 26 is the final combine.

Part 1 — Words of Magi'kot (steps 1-5)

  1. Rykas in Lake Rathe — Hail, say "I wish to learn of the tale of Magi'kot" → receive Token of Mastery.
  2. Jahsohn Aksot in West Commonlands — Give Token of Mastery → receive instructions and three empty page slots.
  3. Slay an enraged dread wolf in Kithicor Forest — loot Torn Page (Magi'kot).
  4. Slay a tentacle terror in Estate of Unrest — loot Torn Page (Magi'kot).
  5. Slay a bloodthirsty ghoul in Lower Guk, then return all three pages to Jahsohn Aksot (West Commonlands) → receive Words of Magi'kot.

Part 2 — Power of the Elements (step 6)

  1. Walnan in Butcherblock Mountains — Bring Power of Wind (gypsy dancer, Mistmoore Castle), Power of Fire (lava/blazing elemental, Solusek's Eye), Power of Water (a ravener, Kaesora), and Power of Earth (a fairy guard, Lesser Faydark) → receive Power of the Elements.

Part 3 — Words of Mastery (steps 7-11)

  1. Akksstaff in Najena — Hail and receive turn-in pattern.
  2. Slay Dark Elf or goblin magicians in Najena (or alligators in Lost Temple of Cazic Thule) — loot Torn Page of Mastery: Earth.
  3. Same sources — loot Torn Page of Mastery: Fire.
  4. Same sources — loot Torn Page of Mastery: Water and Torn Page of Mastery: Wind.
  5. Hand all four pages to Akksstaff (Najena) → receive Words of Mastery.

Part 4 — Power of the Orb (step 12)

  1. Rykas in Lake Rathe — Give Words of Magi'kot + Power of the Elements + Words of Mastery → receive Power of the Orb.

Part 5 — The Four Elements (steps 13-25)

Element of Fire (steps 13-15):

  1. Loot Torch of the Elements from Neh'Ashiir in City of Mist.
  2. Loot Burning Embers from Phurzikon, Nezekezena, or Gylton in Burning Woods, and Blazing Wand from an undertow in Kedge Keep.
  3. Jennus Lyklobar in Skyfire Mountains — Give Torch of the Elements + Burning Embers + Blazing Wand + Power of the Orb → receive Element of Fire.

Element of Earth (steps 16-19):

  1. Slay Magi P'Tasa in Plane of Hate — loot Staff of Elemental Mastery: Earth.
  2. Loot Dirt of Underfoot from Slixin Klex in Burning Woods.
  3. Vira in Temple of Solusek Ro — Run her two sub-quests to receive Shovel of Ponz and Broom of Trilon.
  4. Tiblner Milnik in Firiona Vie — Give Staff of Elemental Mastery: Earth + Dirt of Underfoot + Shovel of Ponz + Broom of Trilon → receive Element of Earth.

Element of Water (steps 20-22):

  1. Slay Phinigel Autropos in Kedge Keep — loot Staff of Elemental Mastery: Water.
  2. Loot Tears of Erollisi from Captain Rottgrime in The Overthere, and Rain of Karana from Tarbul Earthstrider in East Karana.
  3. Jinalis Andir in Dagnor's Cauldron — Give Staff of Elemental Mastery: Water + Tears of Erollisi + Rain of Karana → receive Element of Water.

Element of Wind (steps 23-25):

  1. Loot Crown of Elemental Mastery from named mobs on the 7th Island of Plane of Sky.
  2. Loot Elemental Binder from elemental warriors in The Hole, and Pegasus Feather Cloak from Quillmane in South Karana.
  3. Kihun Solstin in Plane of Air — Give Crown of Elemental Mastery + Elemental Binder + Pegasus Feather Cloak → receive Element of Wind. Completing this step spawns the Master of Elements.

Part 6 — Final combine (step 26)

  1. Master of Elements in Plane of Air — Give Element of Fire + Element of Earth + Element of Water + Element of Wind → receive Spell: Summon Orb. Custom race-class adjustments

Magician is canonically restricted to Human, Erudite, High Elf, Dark Elf, and Gnome. The Last Camp allows any race. Considerations:

  • Iksar, Troll, and Ogre Magicians start hostile or KOS to several hand-in NPCs — Jahsohn Aksot (West Commonlands is contested but the human-side NPC is neutral to most), Jennus Lyklobar (Skyfire is open), Walnan (Butcherblock dwarven faction), and Vira (Temple of Solusek Ro). Tiblner Milnik in Firiona Vie is roughly neutral. Grind Soldiers of Tunare, Coalition of Tradefolk, and Temple of Solusek Ro factions before the consolidation steps.
  • Vah Shir and Barbarian Magicians are mostly neutral and the chain works as written.
  • Halfling and Wood Elf Magicians are fine for Walnan and Vira but need to watch faction in Cazic Thule and Najena.

Group composition

  • Solo / duo (~10 steps): turn-ins, Magi'kot page pulls in Kithicor / Unrest / Lower Guk (each soloable by 50+ Magician with earth pet), Najena pages, and forage support.
  • Group steps (~8): Mistmoore gypsy dancer, Sol A blazing elemental, Kaesora ravener, Lesser Faydark fairy guard, Skyfire and CoM named pulls, Burning Woods named pulls, and The Hole elemental warriors.
  • Raid steps (3-4): Phinigel Autropos (Kedge Keep, full raid), Magi P'Tasa (Plane of Hate, requires Hate keying), Plane of Sky 7th Island for the Crown, and the chain-spawned Master of Elements (relatively short fight but Plane of Air keying is required).

Tips

  • Quillmane is the bottleneck. He's a rare spawn in South Karana on a 16-22 hour window and gets ninja-charmed by Enchanters and Necromancers. Track him aggressively or charm him with an Enchanter to bypass the spawn race.
  • Phinigel Autropos is a sealed underwater raid. SoW + EB everyone, bring multiple healers, and pre-summon your pet at the entrance — pet pathing in Kedge is brutal.
  • Plane of Hate keying is required for Magi P'Tasa — pair this step with the guild's Necromancer, Shadow Knight, and Cleric epic chains.
  • Pre-stage forage and named-drop reagents before reaching Rykas's consolidation in step 12 — losing a reagent mid-chain rolls back the affected sub-chain.
  • The Master of Elements spawns from the Element of Wind hand-in. Confirm raid is ready in Plane of Air before giving Kihun Solstin the components.
  • Don't drop the scroll. Spell: Summon Orb is no-drop; scribe immediately and cast in a safe zone — the Orb itself is summoned, so it cannot be dropped or stolen mid-cast.
