Zones
Crushbone Keep
The orc-held fortress in Greater Faydark that gave the server its name. Level 1-19 outdoor-to-keep crawl, the first real fortress for most good-aligned Faydwer characters.
"The Keep is not a dungeon. It's a school that happens to have swords."
Crushbone Keep sits at the northeast edge of Greater Faydark, the Elven forest surrounding Kelethin. For two generations of EverQuest players, it was the first real fortress — tight corridors, patrolling orc legionnaires, a named wall boss, and enough loot drift to carry a new character from level 8 to level 14 without ever leaving.
Crushbone is the distilled promise of Classic EverQuest: a dangerous-but-legible place that teaches you how the game actually works. It's the zone the server was first named for — and we want the whole world to feel the way it does here.
Geography
Crushbone is roughly linear with a handful of side rooms. Entry is through a stone gate with patrolling orc guards.
Orc Courtyard (levels 1-9)
The entry plaza. Orc pawns, low-level centurions, and the captive slave camps spawn here. Pulling is done via line-of-sight at the zone edge — single-pull a patroller, drop to the camp. Trash NPCs from level 1 through 9 spawn in this area, supporting characters at the bottom of the band.
Slaver Camps (levels 5-12)
Captured-slave clusters scattered through the outer keep. Orc slavers and orc taskmasters patrol the cages; freed slave NPCs (elven, dwarven) are part of the spawn roster but do not aggro. Retlon Brenclog (level 16) holds the outer slaver camp.
Legionnaire Halls (levels 9-12)
The corridor leading from the Courtyard into the Keep proper. Orc legionnaires patrol in groups of two or three. This is where new tanks learn that "pulling the whole hall" is a wipe condition. Patrolling Orc Scoutsman (level 12) and orc taskmasters are stationed here.
Castle interior (levels 11-14)
Wider rooms with mixed orc types: centurions, oracles, emissaries, and the named Lord Darish, Orc Warden, and the orc warlord patrolling the upper halls. An orc thaumaturgist (level 12 caster) anchors one of the inner camps.
Throne Chamber (levels 14-19)
The deepest room. Emperor Crush (level 18) sits on his throne, attended by his royal guard (level 15) and The Prophet (level 17). Ambassador D'Vinn (level 19), the Dark Elf diplomatic envoy from Neriak, holds the side chamber. The Emperor and Ambassador form the zone's twin-boss endgame.
Rondo's Camp
Rondo Dunfire (level 9) holds a short-leash camp along the outer perimeter — a non-orc named with a tighter aggro radius than the orc roster.
Notable NPCs
- Emperor Crush (level 18) — the zone's namesake boss. Drops class-pattern tops, the iconic Throne, and faction tokens for Faydark's Champions. Single-spawn on a ~10 minute respawn (TAKP-canonical).
- Ambassador D'Vinn (level 19) — Dark Elf diplomat to the Crushbone clan. Drops Ambassador D'Vinn's Ring and grants positive faction with the Indigo Brotherhood of Neriak. Single-spawn, ~10 minute respawn.
- The Prophet (level 17) — orc cleric stationed near the throne. ~10 minute respawn.
- Retlon Brenclog (level 16) — Gnome necromancer named camp on the slaver perimeter. ~10 minute respawn.
- Lord Darish (level 14) — named warlord, drops a rare cloak pattern. ~10 minute respawn.
- Orc Warden (level 14) — outer-wall named patroller. ~10 minute respawn.
- Orc Scoutsman (level 12) — patrolling officer, slaver-cohort drops. ~10 minute respawn.
- An orc thaumaturgist (level 12) — caster named, drops a low-tier spell scroll cohort.
- Rondo Dunfire (level 9) — Dwarf rogue named, short-leash camp.
- Kelynn (level 3) — captive named on the outer slave perimeter.
- Orc Centurions / Legionnaires / Slavers — patrolling trash, tiered from level 3 through 12, traveling in groups of two or three.
- Orc Oracles / Emissaries (levels 11-14) — caster trash; stun or mez them first.
- An orc thaumaturgist patrols inner-keep corridors at level 12.
Faction
Every Crushbone orc kill:
- + Faydark's Champions
- + Clan Stormhammer (Kaladim)
- + Emerald Warriors
- + Storm Guard
- − Crushbone Orc faction (no value to you; they're already hostile)
Ambassador D'Vinn additionally grants:
- + Indigo Brotherhood (Neriak diplomatic chain)
Players grinding good-side Faydwer faction often start here regardless of level — the faction gains are significant for later quests, and the cross-zone tie to the Indigo Brotherhood opens dark-elf-side follow-on chains.
Drops worth naming
- Emperor Crush's Throne — large decorative chair; trophy drop.
- Class pattern tops — per-class crafted armor patterns from Emperor Crush and the upper-named tier.
- Crushbone Belt — common centurion drop.
- Crushbone Battle Beads — emissary/centurion drop.
- Ambassador D'Vinn's Ring — paired with the Ambassador's kill.
- Legionnaire's Bracer — common legionnaire drop.
- Rusty Short Sword — common legionnaire trash drop.
- Wood Elf Parts / Elven Blood — cultural reagents from the freed-slave cohort.
- Dwarven Blood / Dwarf Meat — cultural reagents from the dwarven-slave cohort.
- Orc Scalp / Orc Skull / Severed Orc Foot — quest turn-in components.
- Orc Pawn Pick — pickpocket item; rogues farm it.
Etiquette
- Announce camp in /ooc. Emperor Crush has a standard camp queue.
- Don't overpull patrols. The halls are narrow; adds that run past your group train the next camp.
- Respect the courtyard single-puller. If someone's pulling from the zone line, don't run past them.
ZEM
ZEM 1.60 — high for the level band. Crushbone is intentionally tuned as a destination zone — the best dungeon XP in Faydwer at these levels. See ZEM Table for the full server list.
Why it matters for The Last Camp
The server's Crushbone GM Guild — led by Rusty, bound to the Plane of Knowledge by design — is named after this zone, not after the fortress's orcs. The distinction matters: the Keep is a place we all trained at. The GM guild is the place that keeps the world running.
