Dragon Necropolis Access
Access path into the Velious dragon raid zone — Sleeper's Tomb prelude or Cobalt Scar dragon faction.
Dragon Necropolis (DN) is a Velious raid zone — the resting place of fallen dragons under Skyshrine, populated by undead drakes, decaying dragon-kin, and named raid encounters. Access is not a single quest but a faction-and-prelude path: the canonical entry runs through the Sleeper's Tomb prelude or — alternately on some servers — via deep Claws of Veeshan faction earned in Cobalt Scar and Skyshrine.
Hedge: the precise access mechanic varies by server build (live, P99, TAKP, custom). On The Last Camp the Sleeper's-Tomb-adjacent path is canonical. Confirm details in-game before scheduling a raid.

Access to Dragon Necropolis. The zone hosts named encounters with Velious-tier raid loot — no key item is bound; access is a faction-gated zone-line.
Walkthrough
Step 1 — Build Claws of Veeshan faction
Dragon Necropolis sits inside the Claws of Veeshan dragon faction's care. Hostile or dubious characters will not survive the entry encounters even if they zone in.
- Kill Kromrif (giants) in Kael Drakkel — opposes giants, raises CoV faction.
- Run Skyshrine faction quests (signet turn-ins, named giant trophies).
- Avoid killing dragons or drakes outside scripted raid encounters — they are CoV-aligned and faction loss is steep.
The target faction tier is kindly or higher with Claws of Veeshan. Indifferent will technically permit zoning but may not protect against ambient encounters at the gate.
Step 2 — Sleeper's Tomb prelude
The canonical access prelude on most eqmac-era builds runs through Sleeper's Tomb. The prelude requires:
- A raid clearing the entry tier of Sleeper's Tomb (named drakes / sub-bosses).
- A specific quest item or scripted dialog in Sleeper's Tomb that flags the participating raid for DN access.
Hedge: the exact prelude mechanic is server-dependent. Some servers gate DN behind a "you broke the seal" flag earned by killing a specific named in Sleeper's Tomb; others gate purely by Claws of Veeshan faction. On The Last Camp, query the Skyshrine quest hub for current dialog before scheduling the raid.
Step 3 — Cobalt Scar alternate path
If the Sleeper's-Tomb path is unavailable for your character (faction issues with Sleeper's Tomb's gate, or your guild has not committed to the Sleeper raid), the alternate is sustained Claws of Veeshan farming in Cobalt Scar. The CS dragon-aligned NPCs can be turned to friendly with enough faction lift; at high CoV faction, DN entry opens without the Sleeper prelude.
This path is slower but does not require a Sleeper's Tomb raid commitment.
Step 4 — Approach the DN zone-line
Dragon Necropolis is reached from a Skyshrine zone-line. With access met, the zone-in is normal — no key check. Without access, the zone-line refuses or the entry encounters slaughter the raid.
Final turn-in
There is no NPC turn-in for the access itself. The chain ends when the raid zones successfully into Dragon Necropolis.
Custom race-class adjustments
DN access is class-neutral — faction is the gate. The Last Camp's any-race-class doctrine produces dragon-faction grinds for races that started off-continent (Iksar, Erudite). The grind is identical to canonical EQ; no race shortcut exists.
Some classes (Necromancer, Shadow Knight) face additional Velious-side faction friction with Coldain — DN access does not require Coldain faction directly, but the Velious overland approach to Skyshrine via Eastern Wastes is hostile to Coldain-negative characters.
Why DN matters in Velious
Dragon Necropolis is one of the most atmospheric raid zones in the era — the undead-dragon aesthetic is unique to DN, and the named encounter loot includes class-specific pieces that bridge Velious gear into PoP. For guilds running Velious-cap content as a parallel track to PoP progression, DN is a destination zone.
The Last Camp treats DN as canonical Velious raid content. There is no shortcut — faction and prelude are the two locked gates. Plan around them.
Tips
- Verify access mechanic in-game. Server-dependent — query NPCs in Skyshrine and Cobalt Scar before scheduling the raid.
- Build CoV faction in parallel with Skyshrine quests. Same faction lift, multiple rewards.
- Don't kill dragons outside raids. Faction loss to CoV is severe and slow to recover.
- Sleeper's Tomb is a separate raid commitment. If your guild is not committed to the Sleeper chain, take the Cobalt Scar path.
- Coordinate raid composition for DN. Undead-aligned encounters favor undead-DPS classes (clerics, paladins, necros).
- Plan a faction-loss recovery path. Accidental dragon kill on the way to DN can lock the raid out for weeks of recovery.
