THE LAST CAMP

The Evil Eye Tooth Turn-In is a repeatable faction quest using teeth looted from beholders in Gorge of King Xorbb. Hand them in to Surefall Glade druids or Knights of Thunder NPCs for shifts on Karana-aligned faction. Mid-tier Classic-era grind that pairs with Karana leveling and Druid quest progression.

At a glance

Field Value
Faction (+) Knights of Thunder, Guardians of the Plains
Faction (−) Minions of King Xorbb, beholder-aligned
Required item Evil Eye Tooth (and rarer named-beholder teeth)
Source Beholders ("evil eyes") in Gorge of King Xorbb
Turn-in NPC Surefall Glade Druids and Karana-faction NPCs
Reward per turn-in Coin + faction shift
Faction shift ~+2 to +5 per tooth (named teeth shift more — estimates)
Repeatable Yes
Recommended level 25-40 to clear Gorge beholders safely

How to obtain the item

Evil eye teeth drop from beholders throughout Gorge of King Xorbb. The zone is dense with beholder spawns at multiple tiers — common evil eyes drop common teeth, named greater-beholder spawns drop the higher-value named teeth that turn in for stronger faction shifts. Drop rate on common teeth is moderate. Beholders cast and have annoying mez/charm-style abilities, so under-level pulling is risky — bring resists or a cleric.

The zone is reached via East Karana zone-line and is part of the Highpass / Highkeep travel corridor.

Where to turn in

Two parallel turn-in paths:

  • Druids of Surefall Glade — gives Druid-aligned and Karana-aligned faction. Standard for Druid / Ranger characters.
  • Knights of Thunder NPCs in Highkeep / High Pass area — gives knightly-order faction. Standard for Paladin / Warrior characters wanting that faction line.

Confirm your turn-in NPC's dialog before handing in — wrong NPC = wrong faction shift.

Faction implications

Each turn-in raises Karana-aligned and/or Knights of Thunder faction while lowering King Xorbb's faction (functionally useless on the player side). Karana faction has the same downstream uses described in Aviak Feathers — Druid quest unlocks, safe Karana transit, etc. Knights of Thunder faction unlocks Highkeep / Highpass NPC dialogs and merchant access for Knights of Thunder vendors.

The shift per common tooth is moderate; named-beholder teeth move the bar visibly per item.

Variations and edge cases

A few notes:

  • Druid path vs Knight path. Verify which NPC you're handing to — wrong NPC = wrong faction. Surefall Glade druids favor Karana / Druid faction; Highkeep / Highpass Knights of Thunder NPCs favor knightly-order faction.
  • Beholder mez and charm. Cast on cooldown and can be brutal under-level; bring resists or pulled singles.
  • Greater Evil Eye spawns. Named greater-beholder spawns drop the high-tier teeth — camp the rotation if you want efficient grinding.
  • Tooth name drift. Common teeth and named teeth appear with slightly different item names depending on which beholder dropped them. Both work for their respective turn-in tier.
  • Faction window quirks. Karana sub-factions and Knights of Thunder sub-factions surface at different rates; hand in one tooth first to confirm direction.
  • Surefall Glade is far from Gorge. Bank teeth in stacks before the long travel leg.

The Last Camp any-race-class note

Under The Last Camp's any-race-class doctrine, this is a useful mid-tier faction grind for any character whose race-class combo started with bad Highkeep / Highpass faction. A Dark Elf Paladin, an Erudite Ranger, or any character running Highkeep as a leveling base benefits from this grind. The dual-NPC turn-in path (druids vs knights) lets you pick whichever faction line matters more for your build.

For canonical Druids and Rangers, the Surefall Glade turn-in is one of the cleanest Karana-faction grinds available at mid-level.

Tips

  • Beholders cast and charm. Resist gear or mez-resist potions help.
  • Greater Evil Eye named spawns are worth waiting for. Their teeth turn in for the larger faction shift.
  • Pick your turn-in NPC on purpose. Druid path vs Knight path — they go to different factions.
  • Combine with Highkeep / Highpass leveling. The zones are adjacent and share a faction graph.
  • Surefall Glade is a long run from Gorge. Bank teeth in stacks before traveling to the turn-in.
  • +Knights of Thunder unlocks Highkeep merchant access — useful for Highkeep-based characters.
  • Bind in Highkeep or Surefall Glade depending on which path you're grinding.
  • Combine with Aviak Feathers if you want parallel Karana faction movement during the same play session.
