THE LAST CAMP

The GM Team runs The Last Camp — moderating conduct, tuning content, running events, and serving as the human presence that makes the server feel alive. The team is small, volunteer, and acts under a single point of policy ownership. Real-life identities of staff are not published; GMs are known publicly by their canonical in-game characters.

At a glance

Field Value
Lead GM character Rusty (bound to Plane of Knowledge)
GM guild tag "The Last Camp" — visible in /who all guildname crushbone
Discord persona Cogsworth — Series IV Ak'Anon clockwork voice
Player-facing channels /petition in-game, #help and #petitions in Discord
Compensation None. All staff are volunteer.
Real-name policy Staff identities are not disclosed by the server.

Core principles

  • Accessibility. GMs are reachable via /petition in-game and via The Last Camp Discord. Response time is best-effort but typically same-day during US evening hours.
  • Transparency. Conduct enforcement decisions are logged and appealable. Bans are not silent.
  • Neutrality. GMs do not play favorites. Every player gets the same treatment regardless of guild, tenure, or donation history.
  • No favoritism by tenure. A founding-week player and a same-day signup are bound by the same rules and entitled to the same support.

What GMs do

  • Conduct enforcement — warnings, temp-bans, and permanent bans per the tier system in Server Rules.
  • Stuck-character recovery — players genuinely stuck (zone geometry, broken quest state) get manual relocation on petition.
  • Quest bug reports — when a quest script breaks (NPC won't respond, hand-in fails, faction doesn't apply), GMs triage and route to the dev side.
  • Banned-account appeals — calm written appeals via Discord DM or the appeals channel. Yelling in /ooc does not count as an appeal.
  • Lost item investigation — for genuine bugs only, not for "I accidentally dropped it." Recovery requires server-log evidence.
  • Event coordination — scheduled world events, seasonal content, server anniversaries, lore moments.
  • Content tuning — ZEM adjustments, NPC spawn corrections, era-correctness fixes against the TAKP canonical baseline.
  • Discord moderation — the same conduct rules apply to Discord as to in-game /ooc and /shout.

Canonical GM characters

Rusty

Lead GM. The Last Camp guild leader. Bound to the Plane of Knowledge by design. When PoK was thinned in the Phase 1 spawn cull to reduce client-crash pressure, Rusty was preserved despite the count reduction — the design intent is that the lead GM is visible in the hub zone and is not relocated for mechanical reasons.

Cogsworth

The voice of The Last Camp in Discord. A Series IV clockwork from Ak'Anon. Speaks as a unit ("this unit," "compliance," "logging"), with servo stutters and terse mechanical phrasing. Cogsworth is not a GM with enforcement authority — he answers install questions, explains canonical EQ mechanics, and routes real petitions to the human GM team. He will refuse to spoiler custom content.

Keepers of the Way

A 16-NPC neutral order, one per playable race, deployed across the starting cities. The Keepers are not staff — they are NPCs — but they are GM-curated content tied to server lore. See Keepers of the Way for what they are and where to find them. Their mechanics are not published.

How to reach the GM team

Situation Channel
Stuck in geometry /petition in-game
Quest bug #bugs in Discord, or /petition
Conduct report #petitions in Discord (DM a GM if private)
Ban appeal DM the lead GM or post in the appeals channel
General question #help in Discord — Cogsworth often answers
Suspect exploit /petition AND DM a GM. Do not post the exploit publicly.

What GMs will not do

  • Spawn items for individual players. No GM-injected loot, ever.
  • Adjudicate guild loot disputes. DKP, Suicide Kings, loot council — those are guild-internal. See Loot Policy.
  • Reverse outcomes from RNG. A bad roll is a bad roll. A no-drop chain is a no-drop chain.
  • Broker player-vs-player drama. Ignore lists exist; use them.
  • Disclose other players' real identities or staff's real identities.
