The classic-Kunark-Hate Shaman chain — five trigger mobs, the City of Mist Iksar saga, a Plane of Fear Child's Tear, and the Spirit Sentinel pond combine for the era's best click slow.

The chain opens with a Lesser Spirit kill at one of four classic-zone trigger camps, runs through a drunken shaman in North Freeport sewers, swings out to Erud's Crossing and West Karana for the Tests of Patience and Wisdom, then settles into a long Iksar-themed arc through City of Mist, The Hole, and the Plane of Fear.
The chain ends with a triple-named cluster in City of Mist (Lord Ghiosk, Neh'Ashiir, Lord Rak'Ashiir) and a final turn-in at the Spirit Sentinel pond in Emerald Jungle. It is not a Velious chain — every step lands in Classic or Kunark zones, plus one Plane of Fear raid step for the Child's Tear.

The proc is incidental — the chain is run for the click slow that the spear carries on the live server. Stat line above is the P99 canonical reference; the slow click is the reason it tops every Shaman main's priority list.
Chain walkthrough
The chain runs in 13 stages. Most components are flagged and bankable, but the Spirit Sentinel pond is the convergence point — you'll return there four separate times.
Part 1 — The Tests (steps 1-4)
- A Lesser Spirit — one of four trigger mobs in Ocean of Tears, Rathe Mountains, Butcherblock Mountains, or Field of Bone. Kill → loot Tiny Gem.
- Bondl Felligan in North Freeport sewers — Give Tiny Gem. Follow him to Jade Tiger's Den and speak with a Greater Spirit → receive Opaque Gem.
- Ooglyn in Erud's Crossing — Give Opaque Gem. Wait at the ocean bottom for the spirit encounter → receive Small Gem. (Test of Patience.)
- A Wandering Spirit in West Karana — Give Small Gem → receive kill orders for Rathe Mountains. (Test of Wisdom.)
Part 2 — Test of Might (steps 5-8)
- Kill Tabien the Goodly in Rathe Mountains → loot Marr's Promise.
- Kill Glaron the Wicked in Rathe Mountains → loot Envy and Woe.
- A Wandering Spirit (West Karana) — Give Marr's Promise + Envy and Woe → receive Shield of Falsehood + Sparkling Gem.
- Spirit Sentinel at the pond in Emerald Jungle — Give Sparkling Gem → receive a 6-slot booklet and orders to collect six City of Mist reports.
Part 3 — Reports of the High Scale (steps 9-10)
- Collect six reports from named NPCs in City of Mist: Personal Diary Page, Crier's Scroll, Merchant's Letter, Written Announcement, Priest's Diary Page, Student's Log. Combine all six in the booklet → completed booklet.
- Spirit Sentinel (Emerald Jungle pond) — Give completed booklet → receive Black Dire hunt orders.
Part 4 — Black Dire (steps 11-12)
- Kill an Advisor in Mistmoore Castle to spawn Black Dire; kill Black Dire → loot Black Dire Pelt.
- Spirit Sentinel (Emerald Jungle pond) — Give Black Dire Pelt → receive Black Fur Boots and orders for Lord Ghiosk.
Part 5 — Lord Ghiosk's library (steps 13-14)
- Raid Lord Ghiosk in City of Mist → loot Historic Article, Head Housekeeper's Log, Crusades of the High Scale.
- Spirit Sentinel (Emerald Jungle pond) — Give all three books → receive orders to retrieve the Icon.
Part 6 — Icon and High Scale Kirn (steps 15-16)
- Icon of the High Scale — ground spawn (a small bag) inside the City of Mist temple. Locate and loot.
- Kill High Scale Kirn in The Hole. Give Icon of the High Scale → loot Promise Ring of Neh'Ashiir.
Part 7 — Neh'Ashiir and the Child's Tear (steps 17-19)
- Kill Neh'Ashiir in City of Mist. Give Promise Ring of Neh'Ashiir → loot Neh'Ashiir's Diary. Return diary to Spirit Sentinel (Emerald Jungle pond).
- Plane of Fear — kill Dread, Fright, or Terror; an Iksar Broodling spawns. Kill the Broodling → loot Child's Tear.
- Kill Lord Rak'Ashiir in City of Mist. Give Child's Tear → loot Iksar Scale.
Part 8 — Final turn-in (step 20)
- Spirit Sentinel (Emerald Jungle pond) — Give Iksar Scale → receive

Custom race-class adjustments
Shaman is canonically restricted to Barbarian, Troll, Ogre, and Iksar. The Last Camp allows any race. Considerations:
- Good-race Shamans (Halfling, High Elf, Wood Elf, Erudite, Dwarf, Vah Shir, Human, Half Elf) have no in-chain faction wall — the Spirit Sentinel and Wandering Spirit are spirit-aligned and indifferent to player race.
- Freeport sewer access is the main faction touch — Bondl Felligan sits inside North Freeport. KOS races (Trolls, Ogres, Dark Elves) should plan an invis-route through East Commonlands → Freeport sewers, or run with a Bard.
- City of Mist is faction-neutral for the named cluster — these are mob kills, not turn-ins.

Group composition
- Solo / duo (~5 steps): trigger kill, hand-ins, Jade Tiger's Den walk, Mistmoore Advisor (with care).
- Group (~6 steps): the six City of Mist reports, High Scale Kirn in The Hole, Neh'Ashiir, Lord Rak'Ashiir. Standard 55-60 group with tank/cleric/enchanter.
- Raid (2 steps): Lord Ghiosk in City of Mist (12+ for the named drop + adds); Plane of Fear for the Child's Tear (full raid for the named outdoor cluster, then sub-group the Iksar Broodling).
Tips
- Pre-flag for Plane of Fear before step 18. The Broodling spawn is one of the most reliable Fear steps but the trash there will kill an unflagged group.
- Bank between Spirit Sentinel returns — the pond is the convergence point for steps 8, 10, 12, 17, and 20. Plan trips deliberately.
- The Jade Tiger's Den walk with Bondl Felligan is on his pace — don't lose him in the sewer tunnels or you'll re-trigger from step 2.
- City of Mist reports drop from specific named per page — don't camp the same named expecting different pages. The drop tables are fixed.
- The Icon of the High Scale is a ground spawn — invis and search the small bag rather than fighting through. Track spawn windows with the guild.
- Lord Ghiosk wipes guilds that ignore his casters. Bring two healers and silence the back line first.
- Plane of Fear named (Dread/Fright/Terror) all spawn the Iksar Broodling on death — pick whichever the raid is already pulling, don't single it out.
- The click slow on Spear of Fate lands at 70%-ish potency, instant cast, no mana cost. It is the single most useful Shaman raid button in the era.
- Curse of the Spirits proc is a flavor bonus — don't camp the spear in the secondary for the proc when an actual 1H gives more DPS.
