THE LAST CAMP

Xalgoz is the lich zone boss of Kaesora — an undead iksar archivist holding the deep stacks of what was once the central library of the Sebilisian iksar empire. He is a mid-40 level target, a stepping stone between the early Kunark zones (Field of Bone, Warsliks Wood) and the upper Kunark dungeons (Karnor's, Old Sebilis). His kill is one of the era's defining mid-levelling milestones, and his loot table includes some of the most desirable mid-tier caster pieces in Kunark. The zone is small but lore-dense, and Xalgoz is the figure who anchors that lore.

Lore

Kaesora was the central library of the Sebilisian iksar empire — the great repository of the empire's knowledge, located in the deep mountains of northern Kunark. When Trakanon's poison reached Sebilis, the library's archivists undertook the lich transition rather than allow the empire's accumulated learning to die with the city. Xalgoz is one of those archivists, and the librarians-turned-undead that fill the zone are his peers and subordinates. The library's books and scrolls remain in place, lore-readable in scattered text-objects throughout the zone, and many of them reference Xalgoz by name as either custodian or author.

In iksar oral history Xalgoz is a complicated figure: not a villain in the way Venril Sathir is a villain, but a custodian whose lich transition (made for genuinely preservationist reasons) has nevertheless left him as a hostile undead encounter for any modern adventurer. His chamber is the deep central reading-room of the library, and the pulls into it are the standard undead librarian and archivist mobs that share his fate. The Cabilis quest network includes references to him as a lost ancestor and as an ongoing problem — the same complicated relationship the iksar have with the broader Sathirian collapse.

Court and lieutenants

The librarian-undead patrolling the upper levels are Xalgoz's peer archivists, each holding a section of the library and each pullable as a minor named encounter. The deeper reading-room hosts the senior archivist undead, with modestly better loot tables and the lore-text drops that explain the library's collapse narrative. The zone is small enough that the descent is short by Kunark standards, but the named-density rewards a careful clear.

Encounter

Xalgoz is a level 45 single-spawn at the deep end of Kaesora, fightable by a balanced six-character group of similar level. His signature mechanics include a standard lich melee profile, a fear-style spell that can scatter the back ranks if undefended, and a small AE that requires the cleric to be prepared for a recurring group-tick. The fight is a tank-and-spank against the lich model, with the standard mid-tier wrinkle that the cleric's mana pool is the load-bearing constraint over the duration of the engagement.

The library descent is one of the more atmospheric pulls in the era — narrow passages, stacked shelves, and undead librarians moving in fixed patrol lines. The Last Camp tuning may differ — verify before pulling.

Approach

The standard Xalgoz approach is a balanced six-character group of similar level entering through Kaesora's main zone-in, clearing the upper library carefully through the patrol lines, and staging at the central reading-room entrance. Fear-resist gear and Resist Magic buffs should be running on the back ranks before the chamber pull, and the cleric should have a planned mana-conservation rotation for the duration of the fight. A standard kill clocks in at fifteen to twenty minutes once the chamber is reached. Xalgoz is one of the more reliable mid-Kunark loot cycles for a balanced group, and the zone is small enough that repeat clears can be chained on the respawn timer.
