THE LAST CAMP

Fletching crafts bows, arrows, and thrown weapons. Every Ranger camping a long pull eventually picks it up because vendor arrows are limited and bulk arrow consumption is the realistic ceiling on archery DPS. Wood Elves carry the cultural baking tradition — bow-making and arrow-fletching are baked into their racial identity — and the Kelethin fletcher trainer is the recommended starting point for any race.

The recipe book debuted classic and grew with each expansion's bow tier. PoP added rare endgame bow recipes, but the bulk of useful fletching output sits in the classic-Velious window with Composite Bow and the velium-grade arrows being the standout era pieces.

What it makes

Fletching output is built around three product families. Arrows dominate the volume — Rangers and any archery-using class burn through hundreds per camp, and a self-fletching Ranger saves real plat over the lifetime of the character. Bows scale from the trivial-20 short bow up through the composite bow and rare master-tier endgame bows. Throwing weapons (throwing axes, daggers, knives) are Monk-and-Rogue range output, used to pull at distance or for off-tank cycle damage.

The kit is portable, which makes fletching the most travel-friendly tradeskill — you can fletch a stack of arrows during a camp without returning to a city.

Skill-up path (1 → 251)

1-50 (Trivial newbie tier)

  • Crude Wooden Arrow (trivial ~5): Field Point + Arrow Shaft + Animal Hair. Vendor everything.
  • Bone Arrow (trivial 21): Field Point Arrow Head + Arrow Shaft + Wooden Bow + Animal Hair.
  • Bulk arrow grinding is the fastest 1-50 path in the game.

50-100 (Apprentice)

  • Short Bow (trivial 38): Curved Bow Shaft + Bow String. Wood from foraged or vendor sources.
  • Steel-Tipped Arrow (trivial ~50): better arrow with metal arrowhead.
  • Start sourcing curved bow shafts from Wood Elf vendors for cheaper component runs.

100-150 (Journeyman)

  • Heavy Throwing Axe (trivial 60): Bronze Throwing Axe Head + Throwing Axe Handle.
  • Long Bow (trivial ~95): mid-tier ranger bow.
  • Throwing weapon side-line keeps the grind varied.

150-200 (Expert)

  • Composite Bow (trivial 122): Composite Bow Stave + Bow String + Bow Cam.
  • Velium-tipped arrow (Velious era): velium components from Cobalt Scar / Velious mining.
  • Composite bow is the default endgame Ranger workhorse before raid drops kick in.

200-251 (Master)

  • Master fletcher Trophy combine.
  • Rare endgame bow recipes — components often gated behind PoP-era drops.
  • Master-tier arrows with imbued effects.

Signature high-end recipes

  • Composite Bow: the workhorse Ranger bow up through PoP raid content.
  • Velium-tipped arrows: Velious-era ammunition with bonus damage on velium-vulnerable mobs.
  • Wood Elf cultural bow line: race-locked endgame bow chain in Kelethin.
  • Throwing Axe of Brell (and similar deity-tagged throwing weapons): Monk endgame range slot.

Tools and containers

The Fletching Kit is portable and vendor-purchased from any fletcher trainer. Carry one in your bags — fletching during downtime camps is a real plat saver. A handful of city-exclusive Workbench recipes exist (Kelethin, Felwithe), used for specific high-end bow combines that need the workbench rather than the kit. Otherwise the kit handles 95% of the recipe book.

The Last Camp any-race-class note

Fletching is class-agnostic and race-agnostic for the bulk of the recipe book. Wood Elf cultural bow recipes are race-locked to Wood Elves; The Last Camp's any-race-class character creation does not unlock them. Class-restricted output (Ranger-only bows, Monk-only throwing weapons) follows canonical class gating on the equipped item, not the crafter.

Common pitfalls

  • Fletching bows below the trivial of your level. The bow market is saturated; arrow market is not.
  • Skipping the kit and trying to use a workbench instead. Workbench recipes are the exception, not the default.
  • Buying arrows from vendors past level 30. The savings on self-fletched arrows compound dramatically by 50.
  • Forgetting that arrows combine in batches of four. Plan component stacks accordingly.
  • Stocking exotic woods at low skill. Vendor wood is fine through 150.
  • Letting arrow stacks decay in inventory. Arrows are consumables; ship to your bank or use them.

Vendor sources

Kelethin fletcher vendors carry the cheapest curved bow shafts, arrow shafts, and bow strings in the game — Wood Elf cultural specialty pricing applies even to non-Wood-Elf buyers. The Felwithe fletcher covers metal arrowheads and steel-tipped components. Rivervale and Qeynos both have fletcher merchants but neither matches Kelethin pricing for bow components. Stock arrow shafts in batches of 200+; the burn rate during Ranger leveling is the primary cost driver.
