Zones
Plane of Fear
Cazic-Thule's nightmare realm. One of the three Classic tri-plane raid zones, a defining endgame target for The Last Camp raid forces.
- Plane of Knowledge (flag-gated)
Plane of Fear is Cazic-Thule's plane — a nightmare realm where fear is given shape and where Norrath's god of dread holds his throne. Alongside Plane of Hate and Plane of Sky, it forms the Classic tri-plane raid trio that defined late-Classic EverQuest endgame. The zone opens with a hostile entry yard, transitions through fear-themed terrain, and culminates at the throne where Cazic-Thule himself sits. On The Last Camp it is a flagged raid target, accessible after the Fear Access chain, and a regular stop for Epic 1.0 progression on multiple classes. Because The Last Camp allows any race to play any class, raid composition for Fear can include unusual pairings — but the zone's mechanics do not care who is wearing the plate.
Content
- Entry yard — fear servants and lesser horrors. The first wipe spot for under-prepared raids.
- Amygdalan knights & warriors — heavy-hitting humanoid trash that defines the middle of the zone.
- Phobia-themed nameds — Dread, Fright, and Terror each drop class-specific raid gear and spell pages.
- The Dracoliche — an undead-dragon named guarding its own corner of the plane.
- Cazic-Thule — the plane boss, with summoned adds and a debuff stack that demands clean cleric rotation.
- Epic 1.0 turn-ins and components — multiple class chains route a step through Fear.
- Faction stigma — fear effects punish reckless positioning.

Primary factions
- Denizens of Fear — the plane's hostile population; nearly every servant, Amygdalan, and named hits this faction. Killing Fear mobs lowers it.
- Cazic Thule — the deity faction carried by the plane boss himself.
The zone is uniformly hostile; there are no friendly merchants or quest-givers among the live population.
Why bother
Plane of Fear is a defining Classic raid zone, and on The Last Camp it is one of the canonical first raid targets after a guild flags up. The loot table delivers usable raid gear in the 50-60 range, several Epic 1.0 components, and a god-tier name on the kill list. For a guild building toward Plane of Time, Fear is also a training ground — the pulls teach raid discipline, the trash teaches add control, and the boss teaches healer rotation under a hostile debuff stack. Solo or small-group play here is not the intent. The zone exists to be cleared with a raid, and the reward structure assumes that.
Field notes
The entry yard is where most first-time raids wipe. Fear servants hit hard, summon, and chain-pull if positioned carelessly. Mez and crowd control are not optional. Once past the yard, the zone opens up but the named encounters carry heavier mechanics — debuffs, summons, and Amygdalans that punish a slow main tank swap. Cazic-Thule himself rewards a clean pull and a steady cleric rotation. The fight is not about DPS race; it is about not breaking the plan. Bring undead-slay procs where they apply and respect the fear effects on your back line. Pull the entry yard in pieces, never as a chain. Keep the main tank's healer rotation rehearsed before the boss attempt rather than during it. A clean Cazic kill is one where nothing improvised happened in the last sixty seconds.
