Zones
Toxxulia Forest
The outdoor newbie zone on Odus, sitting between Erudin and Paineel as the practical low-level yard for any character starting on the continent and a connector to the Hole.
- Erudin
- Paineel
- The Hole
Toxxulia Forest is the outdoor newbie zone on Odus — a dim woodland that wraps around the eastern half of the continent and serves as the practical low-level yard for any character starting at Erudin or Paineel. The forest is broken by a few clearings and a long path tying the cities together, with skeletons and wolves around the Paineel side, lighter content toward the Erudin gate, and Toxodon rhinos in the deeper interior. A small Kerran outcast presence holds the western coast, and a gypsy traveler or two wanders the road for flavor and the occasional minor quest hook. Level band runs one through fifteen on the obvious mobs, with the rhinos and named scaling higher and pushing the upper end into the twenties. The zone also threads down toward The Hole, which keeps it relevant long after most newbies outlevel the forest itself.
Content
- Wolves and skeletons — early-band trash, scaling 1 through 15.
- Gnoll camps — small fixed pulls on the Erudin-side path.
- Toxodon rhinos — outdoor predators in the deeper interior, low to high teens, hit hard for the band.
- Kerran outcasts — small camp on the western coast, mid teens.
- Gypsy travelers — wandering NPCs on the road, flavor and a few minor quest hooks.
- Named spawns — short-timer named scattered through the forest, usable low-level loot.
- The Hole approach — the Paineel-side path leading into the deep dungeon zone-line.
Why bother
Toxxulia is the obvious starter yard for Erudite characters and the equally obvious one for any non-Erudite who chose Paineel as a bind. The level band stretches long enough that a careful solo player can run the zone from one through the early teens without needing a city return except for vendors. The rhinos and the Kerran camp give a duo or small group something to push at the upper end, and the named spawns feed a starter weapon or two if the timer cooperates.
On The Last Camp, where any race can play any class, Odus picks up an extra role. A Dwarf Cleric or a Wood Elf Necromancer can start at Erudin or Paineel and run Toxxulia like any local, since the forest mobs don't check race tables. That makes the zone one of the cleaner low-level yards on the server for off-script class-race combinations, especially for characters who want to bind near The Hole approach for later content.
Using it well
Bind at the city, not in the forest. The corpse run from a careless rhino pull is short from Erudin and survivable from Paineel, but unbound players who try the woods first sometimes find the recovery longer than expected. The road through the zone is the safe path; the deeper interior is where the band climbs.
Watch the rhino aggro radius. Toxodon rhinos hit harder than their level suggests and don't always pull alone; a starter character should give the herd a wide path until the level band catches up. The Kerran outcasts are a tight camp for a duo and worth the timer if the spot is open. Travel between Erudin and Paineel cuts straight through the forest, but the Paineel gate is faction-restricted — confirm standing before walking up to the door.
