Playing Troll on The Last Camp
Children of Innoruuk in Grobb — natural regen and infravision, canonical Warrior/Shaman/SK/Beastlord, plus every The Last Camp exotic class.
Playing a Troll on The Last Camp is the regen-and-rage tank pick. Trolls are canonically Warrior, Shaman, Shadow Knight, and Beastlord — a tank-and-priest roster built around Innoruuk and the Grobb tribal tradition. The Last Camp unlocks Cleric, Paladin, Ranger, Druid, Monk, Bard, Rogue, Necromancer, Wizard, Magician, Enchanter, and Berserker on the chassis.
The race has innate HP regeneration that scales through every level (the only racial regen besides Iksar), high STA and STR, and a large hitbox. Trolls are mechanically the second-best raw-tank chassis in the game after Ogres, with the trade-off of regen instead of frontal-stun-immunity.

Why this race
Troll regen is real — at low levels it's enough to passively heal between fights, and at high levels combined with item regen it sustains tanking through the long pull-cycle. STA and STR are top-three in the game. The race has lower combined HP than an Ogre but better sustain through fights.
The Innoruuk-and-Cazic-Thule deity axis fits Shadow Knight perfectly, and the canonical Troll Shaman tradition is one of the strongest priest chassis in the game.
Stat profile detail
Troll starting stats lean on STR (108), STA (109), and AGI (83). WIS (60), INT (60), DEX (75), CHA (40) are all weak. The racial HP regen (+1 per tick at level 1, scaling) is the headline trait.
The HP regen scales meaningfully with level — by 65 a Troll regenerates noticeably more HP per tick than any non-Iksar race, which compounds with item regen and class regen for sustainable tanking. The Sun Penalty (Trolls regen slower in daylight) is real but small.
The race's +15 disease resist baseline is the highest single-resist bonus on the server, lore-grounded in Troll biology.
Canonical class fits
Troll Warrior is the canonical regen-tank pick — fewer raid mechanics protected against than an Ogre but more sustained group-content survivability. Troll Shadow Knight is one of the best SK chassis in the game (regen + life-tap synergy + Innoruuk-canonical). Troll Shaman of Cazic-Thule is the canonical priest with strong HP and the regen edge. Troll Beastlord is the canonical solo pick.
The Last Camp exotic combos
Troll Cleric and Troll Paladin are the headline unlocks. Like Ogres, the deity puzzle is real — Mithaniel Marr is anathema to Innoruuk, so a Troll Paladin requires a faction grind from Grobb to Marr-temple that's documented in faction custom combos. The reward is a regen-tank Paladin chassis that sustains exceptionally well in extended pulls.
Troll Necromancer of Innoruuk or Bertoxxulous is one of the most lore-natural exotic combos on the server — Innoruuk worship is canonical for the race, and the Necromancer chassis fits the Grobb-cult aesthetic perfectly. Faction work is needed for the Neriak Indigo Brotherhood guild access.
Troll Wizard and Troll Magician are mechanically rough — bottom-tier INT — but AAs close the gap. Troll Monk is the small-class-on-large-frame novelty pick like Ogre Monk, with the same hitbox liability. Troll Bard runs into the CHA/DEX wall but is delightful as a swamp-skald build.
Troll Druid and Troll Ranger require deity gymnastics — Tunare is anathema, but the Tribunal works for some Druid readings, and Karana-of-the-storm fits the Innothule Swamp lore. Troll Rogue is mechanically rough on AGI but works in groups. Troll Enchanter is the lowest-CHA Enchanter in the game but viable on AAs.
Faction implications
Trolls wake up friendly to Grobb, Oggok, the Innothule-Trolls faction, the Innoruuk axis (some Neriak factions are friendly), and the Cazic-Thule axis. They are hostile to every good city, every neutral merchant city of consequence, and most outdoor zones outside Innothule and the Feerrott. The Grobb → Innothule Swamp → Feerrott → Cazic-Thule → Plane of Knowledge route is the canonical newbie path.
For exotic combos requiring good-city faction (Cleric of Marr, Paladin), plan a long grind. The post-revamp Frogloks of Rivervale are deeply hostile to Trolls historically, so any Troll questing in Rivervale gets killed.
Recommended starting picks
Troll Shadow Knight is one of the canonical-defining picks of EQ on The Last Camp — easy newbie zone, regen-tank-and-life-tap synergy, signature class, simple faction. Troll Shaman is the easiest priest start with the regen edge. Troll Warrior for the regen-tank pick. Troll Beastlord for the strong solo curve.
Cultural and racial gear
Cultural Troll is a heavy bone-and-leather set tuned for tanks and shamans. The Grobb-Innothule-Feerrott corridor has solid race-specific quest gear from level 1 through 25, with a deeper mid-level network through Cazic-Thule and the Lower Guk dungeon path.
Tradeoffs to know
- Innate HP regen is the headline mechanical advantage — scales through every level and stacks with item regen.
- Large hitbox is a real dungeon liability but acceptable on raids.
- Lowest combined INT/WIS in the canonical roster after Ogre — exotic caster combos work on AAs but require patience.
- Cazic-Thule and Innoruuk dual-canon gives Troll the broadest dark-deity range of any race — both major evil temples are friendly to Trolls.
- Sun penalty (Trolls regen slower in daylight) is a small but real combat consideration for outdoor raid timing.
Group and raid role summary
- Best canonical fits: regen-tank Warrior, Shadow Knight (regen + life-tap synergy), Shaman, Beastlord.
- Best The Last Camp-exotic fits: Necromancer (canonical-adjacent Innoruuk lore), Cleric of Innoruuk or Bertoxxulous, Druid (with Karana or Tribunal).
- Avoid: Paladin or Cleric of Marr unless committing to a 100+ hour faction grind.
Lore notes
Trolls are descended from the Cazic-Thule-blessed swamp dwellers of Innothule. They worship Innoruuk (god of hate, primary), Cazic-Thule (god of fear, secondary), and have a deep Shaman tradition with the Tribunal-or-Cazic axis. Grobb is the last great Troll city, ruled by Tribesman Chief Stoutbeard and overseen by Innothule's politics. The race's defining traits are regeneration (a literal blessing of the dark gods), brute-strength tribal warfare, and a deep cultural enmity with the Marr-blessed Frogloks who took Rivervale.
