Ghoulbane is the iconic Classic-era Paladin sword — a 15-damage / 34-delay one-handed slashing weapon whose on-hit proc, Dismiss Undead, makes it a defining undead-clearing weapon for the entire Classic era. The drop comes from Joren Nobleheart in Felwithe (100% on the kill), making it the headline reward of one of the most-run named-mob runs in the game's history.

The weapon is restricted to Paladins only, which sharpens its identity — it is the class's first real anti-undead headline weapon, the one that defines what a Paladin's primary slot can do against the era's undead-heavy zones (Mistmoore, Najena, Lower Guk, the Plane of Hate).

Why it matters

Dismiss Undead on a 34-delay weapon swings the proc rate into a useful range against any undead encounter. For a Paladin clearing Mistmoore Castle, Lower Guk's undead side, or any of the Hate / Fear waves of pre-PoP raids, Ghoulbane is the weapon that anchors the loadout. The proc is meaningful damage in addition to the 15-damage base hit, and the Magic + Lore tags keep the slot honest — one per character, no hoarding.

Ghoulbane is also a class-identity item. Paladins who reach the level to wield it (the weapon's stat requirements are low, but the level is the realistic gate) are signaling that they have completed one of the canonical mid-game class runs. The Joren Nobleheart camp itself is part of the experience: a single-pull named in Felwithe, a roughly hour-long spawn cycle, and the social ritual of waiting in town for the spawn.

At-a-glance highlights

The Last Camp any-race-class note

Class restriction (Paladin only) is canonical and unchanged on The Last Camp — the open race / class system unlocks the Paladin class for any race, but the weapon's class list still applies. A Halfling Paladin, an Iksar Paladin, or a Troll Paladin can all wield Ghoulbane on the same terms as a Human or Dwarf canonical Paladin.

The Joren Nobleheart camp is in Felwithe, which has High Elf / Wood Elf faction implications on entry — non-Elf characters need to manage faction or use invis to reach the spawn. This is canonical EverQuest behavior that The Last Camp preserves; the open class system widens the pool of Paladins who would benefit, but does not change the faction-based zone access.
