Mask of Tinkering is a Bard and Rogue face slot item that combines a heavy CHA bonus with an instant-cast Illusion: Gnome clicky. Both classes lean on charisma — Bards for charm song resists and faction tweaks, Rogues for vendor pricing on the older barter system — and both benefit from the Gnome illusion for faction shifting in zones where Gnome standing is generous.

The mask is a Velious-era Sleeper's Tomb drop, which firmly places it in the late-classic raid tier despite the small stat block.

Stats

AC 4. CHA +13. Magic Resist +7. Weight 0.4. Lore Item, Magic Item. Click: Illusion: Gnome (any slot, instant cast).

Effect

The clicky transforms the wearer into a Gnome for the duration of the standard illusion, with no mana cost and instant cast time. The illusion adjusts faction interactions with Gnome-friendly NPCs and is useful for safely passing through Steamfont, Ak'Anon outskirts, or for pranks during downtime.

Because the cast originates from the item rather than from a memorized spell, neither class needs to invest in an illusion-line spell or song to access it. The illusion ends if the wearer takes melee aggro, so it should not be used as a survival tool inside a fight.

How to obtain

The mask drops from Tukaarak the Warder, one of the named guardians inside Sleeper's Tomb. Sleeper's is a Velious-era raid zone with a tightly controlled key flag, multi-mob trash pulls, and a reputation for unforgiving mechanics, so the camp is functionally raid-only on most servers including The Last Camp.

The reported drop rate sits around 12 percent, so a guild repeating the encounter will see the mask appear on a normal cadence rather than as a chase rare. Because the item is not No Drop, finished-with copies sometimes filter to the bazaar via guild loot turnover, though the small wearable population (Bard and Rogue only) keeps demand thin and supply scarce. Players who want the mask without raiding generally end up watching bazaar listings for several weeks rather than expecting a quick buy.

Why it matters

Thirteen points of CHA in the face slot is one of the largest single-slot CHA values available to either class through the late-classic gear band. For Bards, the CHA bonus stacks into Charm song resist calculations, which directly improves charm uptime against light-blue and even-con pets in a way that compounds with each other CHA piece. For Rogues, CHA influenced merchant pricing in the era's barter formula, making the mask a quiet income upgrade for players moving large quantities of gems or cultural goods.

The Magic Resist bonus also matters. Sleeper's Tomb and the Plane of Time encounters that follow lean heavily on magic-based AoEs, so the +7 MR contributes meaningfully to staying upright through standard raid damage profiles. The Type 69 augment frame also keeps the mask compatible with later augment-style overlays if a server adds them on top of the base era.

The Last Camp any-race-class note

The mask is restricted to Bard and Rogue, which on The Last Camp covers any race rolled into either class. A Troll Bard, Ogre Rogue, or Iksar Bard can equip it without modification, since the class restriction is canonical and the race tag is open.

The Gnome illusion's faction effects also work for any race wearing the mask, which gives larger races an unusual route into Gnome-friendly hubs they could not normally enter without disguise.
