Permafrost Keep
Lady Vox's ice fortress buried in the far north of Antonica. The cold half of the classic dragon-pair raid track and one of the original two dragons in the game.
- Everfrost Peaks
Permafrost Keep is the ice-dragon Lady Vox's fortress, set deep into the glacier wall at the back of Everfrost Peaks. The zone is a multi-level ice dungeon — goblin guards in the entry levels, frost elementals deeper, and Vox herself in the throne chamber at the bottom. She is the cold half of the classic dragon-pair raid track and one of the original two dragons that shipped with the game.
The atmosphere is unmistakable: blue-white walls, low ambient light, the steady scrape of frost over stone. The architecture reads like a real keep that the cold has slowly absorbed. Vox's throne is the structural and narrative center of the zone, and every other encounter on the way down is, in some sense, her household staff.
Content
- Ice goblin guards in the upper keep, scaling 30 to 40
- Goblin shamans and chieftains at named camps mid-zone
- Frost elementals — 40 to 50, deeper levels
- Named lieutenants with class-specific drops along the descent
- Lady Vox — the named ice dragon at the bottom, classic raid encounter
- Vox's hoard chamber — the scripted arena around her throne
Why bother
Vox is one of the two iconic original dragons. Killing her is the cold-side milestone in the classic raid progression — the same beat that Nagafen's Lair provides on the fire side, with a different debuff toolkit and a different room layout. The loot table includes era-defining caster and resist items, and a clean Vox kill on The Last Camp is a real progression marker the same way it was on the original servers.
For pre-raid groups, the upper keep is also a workable XP track in the high thirties to mid forties. The goblin camps respawn at a pace that supports a static group for a real-world week of farming, and the named lieutenants drop enough class-flavored gear that any-race-class compositions get something usable per night — a Troll Druid or a Gnome Shadow Knight can both pull respectable upgrades out of the pre-Vox levels.
Using it well
Cold resistance matters. Vox debuffs cold resist on a long-cycle aura, and her direct nukes will gib an unprepared cloth caster. Stack cold resist gear and chew the resist potions before pulling — a raid that ignores resists will lose its back line on the second cast.
There is no bind in Permafrost; stage from Everfrost Peaks and have a SoW or two ready for the corpse-run if the worst happens. Pull the upper goblin camps cleanly before pushing deeper — the keep's geometry has long sight lines and patrols that loop into named rooms, and a sloppy clear in the upper keep will follow you down to the frost elemental levels. The any-race-class doctrine on The Last Camp means the canonical "ice mage from Halas" archetype is open to any race — a Wood Elf Wizard with cold-focus gear works as well as a Barbarian one, and Vox does not check race at the door.
