The Warrens is a kobold warren burrowed under Stonebrunt Mountains, introduced as a Luclin-era expansion zone outside the Erudite city of Paineel. The dungeon is a multi-level kobold city — patrols, named chiefs, and quest-relevant drops — and serves as the first proper dungeon for any character starting on the Heretic side of Odus. On The Last Camp the era cap holds at PoP, so the Warrens are in-era; just remember they are a Luclin-era addition rather than a Classic dungeon.

The dungeon plays at the lower end of the kobold-warren design language: tight burrow corridors, camp-style mob density, named cycles measured in single-digit minutes rather than hours. For a level twenty-five through forty group it is a serviceable XP zone, and for the early-game Paineel-side player it is the natural step up from outdoor Stonebrunt hunts.

Content

  • Kobold patrols scaling 25 to 38 across the upper warrens
  • Kobold shamans — caster pulls, the dungeon's main mez priority
  • Named kobold chiefs at mid-zone, level 32 to 40
  • Deeper named in the lower warrens, level 38 to 45
  • Quest hand-ins for Heretic-faction and Paineel-aligned characters
  • A handful of class-flavored drops that hold value into the early forties

Why bother

The Warrens is the canonical first dungeon for the Paineel side of Odus. The mob density supports static groups for a real-world week of farming, the named loot is era-correct kobold-themed gear, and the geography is friendly to small parties that want camp-style XP without the patrol overlap of larger Classic dungeons.

On The Last Camp the any-race-class doctrine widens the door considerably. Paineel canonically caters to Erudite Shadow Knights and Necromancers, but the dungeon does not check race or class at the entry — a Halfling Cleric or an Ogre Wizard can run the same camps and pull the same loot. For a player who wants an Odus-side bind without a long travel chain back to Antonica every time they die, the Warrens is the natural XP loop.

Using it well

Mez the shamans first. Kobold casters land slows and direct damage on a tight cycle, and the burrow geometry punishes fights that drag — patrols loop the corridors fast enough that a slow kill turns into a two-pull problem quickly. A single competent crowd-control class smooths the whole zone.

Pull camps deliberately. The upper warrens have a few choke points that work in the group's favor only if the puller respects the patrol cycle. There is no bind in the dungeon — stage from Stonebrunt and have a SoW or two ready for the recovery loop if a fight goes sideways. For an Odus-side bind, Kerra Isle is the closest practical option.
